After 10 1/2 tough miles, my body decided it wanted mesquite bbq potato chips. This is not a common craving (I can't remember the last time I had these - last summer maybe?) so I went with it.
Me and my new BFF
They hit the spot! Sweet, salty, crunchy, and a little spicy.
Besides eating delicious artery-clogging snacks I have also been falling back into last summer's race addiction. Last year I went a little crazy registering for races and ended up doing 7 half-marathons in 7 months. This year's race calendar was looking pretty empty except for my ultra this fall, but I took care of that! On the schedule so far -
June 9th - Helvetia Half-Marathon
June 23rd - Rock n Roll Seattle Half-Marathon
July 15th - Fueled By Fine Wine Half-Marathon
August 26th - Eugene Women's Half-Marathon
Looks like we will be doing a lot of racing this summer! None of them are going to be for PRs since I won't be completing full training cycles for any of them, they are all just for fun. I love the half-marathon distance, it's perfect for where I am in my running right now.
Do you have any fun summer race plans?
I am so jealous of your race calendar! You have some pretty fantastic ones coming up! Also, I'm totally with you on food after long runs.. I can crave some pretty random things after running 10 + miles!
ReplyDeleteI have had some pretty weird post-run cravings too...yesterday it was chips, chocolate, and mac n cheese. Probably not my healthiest day :)
DeleteChips are so good after long runs, since I am always craving something salty! Looks like you have an awesome race calendar lined up this summer!
ReplyDeleteThis salty craving was a first for me, usually I crave sweets! After yesterday though, chips may be a more regular thing :)
DeleteYummy chips! I only have one summer race planned, it's a local 4th of July 10K. I'd love to do more races, but I can't get time off during the summer so I have to stay local and it's HOT here during the summer so I think a 10K is about all I can deal with running outside right now. Great looking races, I'll be living vicariously through you!
ReplyDeleteI feel you on the heat! I used to live in southern Virginia and it was awful running in the summer, very hot and muggy. Luckily Oregon is much cooler!
